Please, please! Next update. Turn the auto add of dashboard spacing OFF

I make a simple change, to add a 2X2 button, and dashboard (core) goes insane!

Granted it's a pretty full page but there was room for the button. I must have 200+ "spacings" now on that page AND THEY KEEP BEING ADDED. Why?

I could live with this if I didn't have to DELETE every single one, one by one ... AND having to hit the elusive edit button, then find and click delete. Is there a way to:

  1. turn this auto function off (please?, I'm begging); and
  2. delete them in a group. I'd be happy to just have highlight one and hit the delete key, but this doesn't work either.

To add to the madness, when you click the (small) edit button on a spacer it sometimes opens the one above, which you do not want to delete.

Looking for contributions to my sanity. Can anyone help?

Unfortunately dashboard 1 is depreciated. There will not be (m)any updates I'm afraid.
