Raspberry Pi 5 Fan or Not?

Hi,
I am just waiting for my raspberry pi 5 and so I have printed a case for it, now this case does have vents but no fan mount, should this be ok for node red running 20 sensor inputs to gauges, doing some research people are saying if you use a fan then not to put it in a case

Thanks
Stuart

Fan!! -The pi5 is coined for needing fan.

I have a Pi5 8GB, with the active cooler: Active Cooler for Raspberry Pi 5 | The Pi Hut
and this is encased within the official RPI5 case

it is running

  • Node RED
  • Adguard

The heat sink is hot to the touch and vcgencmd measure_temp reports temp=57.1'C

Hi Marcus,
Thanks for the info, if you have an active cooler fitted can you still use a case ?

Thanks
Stuart

The official one yes...

(I also moved this to Hardware)

The official case comes with a semi transparent lid (under the main lid) but this needs removing if you want to use the active cooler (I recommend)

the 2nd lid comes with a fan - but does not make contact with the SoC, whereas the active cooler is both a heat sick with a fan

I run a Rasp Pi 5 in a GeeekPi Raspberry Pi 5 Aluminium Case without any forced cooling. It runs at around 50°C
