I'm seeing a few threads where people are using NR with it, but it seems many if not all are having NR authenticate with their server in order to get to the device. I want to have NR control it on a LAN with zero Internet. Anybody doing that by chance? Many thanks.
I don't use it but here is what Brave Search's Leo AI had to say on the matter:
Ecobee Without Internet
The Ecobee thermostat can function without an internet connection, but it will lose access to its advanced features and remote control capabilities. Specifically, the thermostat will still operate as a standard programmable thermostat, allowing you to set schedules and control the temperature manually.
However, you will not be able to access or control the thermostat remotely through the Ecobee app or website.
Additionally, features such as weather impact, HomeIQ reports, and remote monitoring will not be available. If you want to control the Ecobee thermostat without an internet connection, you can use local control methods. For example, the thermostat can be controlled via Apple HomeKit, which can operate locally without an internet connection, although some functionality may be limited.
Another option is to use the physical controls on the thermostat itself, which allow you to adjust the temperature manually. It is important to note that while the basic functionality of the Ecobee thermostat is available without an internet connection, some advanced features and remote access capabilities will be unavailable.
If you require full remote access and advanced features, an internet connection is necessary.
