And I prefer Ubuntu Mate - Choose an architecture | Download - with minimal Desktop selected - as it's core Ubuntu LTS etc but with minimal extra desktop stuff so only 4GB install etc - great for VM's etc - but a desktop when you need one.
Also there is a version that runs on Pi as an alternative to RaspiOS if you want to keep the same familiarity across multiple platforms. (Pi5 support coming to next LTS).
I also tried Ubuntu Mate, it is of course the big brother of Linux Mint
