Hi everyone, thought you may be interested in a Starter Pack of Node-RED related contacts on BlueSky (which seems the natural successor to the dumpster fire that Twitter has become).
You can choose to subscribe to some or all of the pack if you want to.
I also created a list should you want to see what Node-RED'ers are talking about.
If you are an active contributor to Node-RED, either with code, documentation, contributed nodes or you sometimes help people on the forum, then please drop me a DM so that I can add you.
Hopefully some extra folks from this community arrive on Bluesky, because not much is happening when you follow the hashtag #nodered unfortunately.
Would be nice to see a bit more about what people are doing with their Node-RED system...
I don't mind to be folowed by feminist mom's or evangelist church owners. Which probably want me to press on their "Follow back" button, seen their high number of followers . But would be nice if some "real" enthousiasts show up sharing info.
I have very few accounts, but they are with content controlled/community closed groups - here being one.
I come off Facebook +13 years ago for example - and have never been on "social" media since.
It's bad for the mind, and have already told my daughter she ain't getting access to any of it, until the age of 30.
But, what is BlueSky?
I keep seeing it crop up.
Is it a closed group, or can I see the world's sick thoughts on it also?
if its a closed thing, cool - if not, I will likely not join.
My point of view: Bluesky has been started at the time being by Jack Dorsey, the former CEO of Twitter (but meanwhile he left Bluesky).
In contradiction to Twitter/X Bluesky is a decentral platform. So in theory even if you are the richest man of the world, you cannot simply buy BlueSky and do with it whatever you like. Which is why those decentral platforms (like also Mastodon, and so on...) are becoming popular.
Others might give you much more accurate details, but this is in a nutshell what I know about it.
I didn't post much on Twitter but I'll eventually get round to posting my blog posts to Bluesky I think and some of those will be Node-RED related. I'll try to remember to include a #nodered tag on them. Not quite top of my list at the moment though.
It is a pretty open platform but with a lot of people fresh from the hell that Twitter has become, both the owners and the members are "keen" (some might even say "fanatical" ) to keep the nasties off. Indeed, there was this recent post which illustrates that "the people" are trying to keep things good, at least for now:
The difference is amazing to be honest and I'm actually happy reading my feed rather than having to restrict myself because Twitter was so depressing.
And it has been really noticeable on my Twitter feed how much more extreme, right-wing and other nasty responses I'm suddenly seeing that I wasn't before. Clearly a reaction to so many nice people deserting the platform. I can't come off it completely because I need to keep an eye on government and NHS accounts among some others that haven't yet moved off.
