I found a solution!!!
In home assistant press "factory reset" in Settings/addons/Nodered/configuration menu, then restart nodered and --- it works.

That solution may well have worked for you but it definitely isn't a universal fix, I have tried it on three seperate systems and it doesn't work on any of them All are latest version of Hassos. When running node-red under Home Assistant clicking the dashboard button has an address 0f 182.168.1.142:8123. It is using port 8123 not 1880 and that is why it fails. However, I have yet to find out where the port is set in either node-red or home assistant.
