I'm not getting anything at all Steve!
I've seen a few problems today from various sites routed through Cloudflare. There's a status message on their site saying they're working on a fix :
Update - We are continuing to work on a fix for this issue.
Aug 30, 12:59 UTCUpdate - We have identified an issue with a transit provider which is causing 5xx class HTTP errors, such as HTTP 522, 502, 503.
This is affecting all data centers that make use of this transit provider and we are working on implementing mitigations to alleviate this issue.

Yep, just got a 524 timeout!
Getting the same. It also looks like the error message is a bit too chatty to my taste. Maybe something to consider looking into @knolleary?
