HomeLink Car Integrations to NodeRed

Hey all -

I've been researching integrations from HomeLink - the buttons found in most cars to control garage doors - to NodeRed.

As I don't have a garage, I had been thinking that I could use it to further control the home/away state of my house and so forth.

I know that HomeLink operates on RF but am mostly curious if anyone has crossed this bridge before and found ways to integrate the two together.

Was curious any one had been down this road before and had any insight. Thanks!

To track home/away state there are many solutions available, this homelink solution sounds convoluted and costs money.

I assume you use wifi at home, you could, for example track if the mac address of your phone shows up in the mac address table: home, if not, away.
