Icons local path

I'm pretty sure, I read somewhere how to set the icon in e.g. button to an local URL path relative to "httpStatic" in settings.js

And I think I was able to do so without using "http://.......", without using the full URL.
(with full path, it's no problem seeing the icon)
But with full URL, you know it, it's not as flexible as with an relative URL

But I do not remember where I read this.
And I do not remember how to use proper.

Do I remember wrong? Or can anybody provide a link or a fast howto?
