The project that 'grew and grew'.

Here's a link to an instruction sheet, for my IoT students, on how to interface an InfraRed (IR) detector to a WeMos D1 Mini..

Note: This exercise uses a WeMos D1 Mini, Node-RED and MQTT (mosquitto) and of course an IR detector.
The project grew into using a RPi-camera to FTP images to a server and a dashboard to display those images.

I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Hey David,

Do you know whether it is possible to implement some kind of pet-detection, i.e. ignore the cat passing by? Or is that something that should be build-in in the IR sensor you buy?

Hi Bart,
The IR Detector I purchased said (in the spec) that it can ignore ""body
heat"" from pets.
There are some DIL switches inside the unit that can adjust thresholds,
etc..
I've not got any pets, so can't verify that claim.
