NodeRED storage locations

In contrib-simple-gate, there is an option to store last state, selected by a dropdown menu. I can only see memory as an option, but the author's github documentation says that it will display all storage locations enabled in NR's settings.js. However, when I look in the GUI, I can't see anywhere to enable disk storage.

I'm guessing that this needs to be done via editing the settings.js file - How can I do that and can that option be added to the GUI for easy usage for future users, please?
