Request: Dropping link node onto wire inserts a pair of connected link in/out nodes

So the basic request is, would it be possible to, when dropping a "link in" or "link out" node onto a wire, that a pair of "connected" link in/out nodes are added where the wire was (replacing the wire with link in & out nodes).

Has this been considered? I did a quick search on forum but didn't see anything (and searching "link" turns up mostly, well, links! )

Thoughts?

Alternatively, if not feasible (or you don't like the idea of dropping 1 node introduces 2) then perhaps right click context on a wire to "separate by link nodes" or double click with modifier key to "separate by link nodes"

Or a keyboard shortcut that breaks a selected wire by inserting link in/out nodes?

Any one else see the benefit?
