`slider` question with the `msg.enabled` option

I want to make sure I am not going nuts.

This keeps biting me and I think I now have the cause.

I have a slider and it has a value of 6 as an example.

I send the node a message: msg.enabled = false

This stops the slider being slid.......

But does it also wipe the vale?
If so: Why?
How can I stop it happening? Or:
How can I restore the value when it is re-enabled?
