Wiring a smoke detector

Hi @BartButenaers

I'm wondering how did you installed your smoke detectors at the end?
And how reliable are they?

I've ordered a Xiaomi Mijia Honeywell Fire Alarm Detector but unfortunately the parcel is still in transit and I don't think I'll receive it soon. So I'm looking for an alternative I can order in Europe.

Hi @cflurin,
I had fortunately no fire yet, so not sure whether they are reliable
But I bought a spray can with smoke, and as soon as I do this smoke test Node-RED detects it immediately. So I assume it works well...

Okay thanks.
I've read through this topic but I didn't get the final solution.
Did you wire the relay to the Raspberry gpio?

I have wired them via din-rail optocouplers to the gpio pins without the need for extra components (resistors...). It is a very nice solution, affordable and very stable: use it for all kind of stuff at the moment (smoke detectors, reed relays, ...).

I too use them (12VDV and 220VAC) mostly connected to esp8266 devices.

Thanks for the link. Aliexpress price appox. 23.50 Euro including shipping compared with ebay 39.99 + 12.99 = 52.98 Euro.
I've found several xiaomi suppliers in DE/CH but generally they double the price!
