Hello. I have a project where I am monitoring the position and orientation of several large boats at anchor. I am using a GNSS receiver that uses two antennas to provide both position and bearing. We use these receivers in mining, agriculture, construction, etc.

My receiver will broadcast NMEA data on an IP address+Port. I will be broadcasting position data using the GGA sentence and heading on another custom NMEA sentence.

The orientation of the boat icon looks to be calculated when the boat is in motion. In my instance the boat will be stationary but may rotate on it mooring.

Can I use my heading data to control the orientation of the boat icon?

Yes. Should be fine to just give it a .bearing property.
