Dashboard empty since new releases

Hi All,
I use nodered since a couple of years without problems, even on an old PI1.
Since recently (a few weeks), I reinstall completely 3 Pi (pi zero, 3b and 3b+) from scratch using procedures as previously used and "as in the book". Nodered works as expected (mqtt etc.) but dashboard stays clear (node-red-dashboard).
Does anyone have the same behaviour?
Best regards,

Thierry, ON5TE

Stop and start one of the pi’s and copy the startup log and paste it to a reply.

Hi Paul,

Thanks a lot for your support.

Here is the requested log.

Best regards,

Thierry ON5TE

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear. What I want is the Node-RED startup log. You can open a terminal session on one of the Pi's or ssh into one of the Pi'. and run the commands:
node-red-stop
node-red
and copy the results. Is should look like this:

pi@testpi:~ $ node-red

Welcome to Node-RED

Hi Paul,

Here is the log.

Once again, thanks for help.

By the way, Node Red is a great piece of software!

Thierry

pi@machines:~ $ node-red

18 Sep 18:16:47 - [info]

Welcome to Node-RED

There is a bit missing from your startup log....
I want to see everything down to the :slightly_frowning_face:

Hi Paul,

I have an agenda problem here and will come backt to you tomorrow.

Have a nice day

Dear Paul,

I am coming back to you with the following:

  • Reinstalling a pi 3B+ from scratch wit Pi Os 32 bits taken from Raspberry website today
  • Installed updates (as proposed during install)
  • Allowed VNX, Serial, I2C and 1 wire
  • Changed hostname
  • Installed Node-red from Nodered website “bash <curl ………. Update-nodejs-and-nodered)
  • Started “start-node-red”
  • Connected to XXX:1880 successfully
  • From palette installed apparently node-ed-dashboard
  • Created a switch and deployed
  • Went to XXX.1880/ui => no switch

This is what I get since a few weeks.

Note that in installed another UI (with a calendar but don’t recall the name) and it works.

Seems that the “node-red-dashboard” has a problem.

Here are the logs I got.

I will not touch the machine until your recommendations.

Once again, thanks for help.

Thierry

LD nodejs 0 :

NEW nodejs :

Can you provide the startup log like I asked a couple days ago.

Hi Paul,

Perhaps will I look idiot, but: Where is it and what’s the name?

Sorry …

Thierry Eggen

If you go back you can see what mine looked like

Also check for errors in the browser developer console when you refresh the dashboard page in the browser.

Hi Paul and Colin,

Still the same.

No error while accessing via browser.

Always got the following.

Welcome to the Node-RED Dashboard |

  • |

Please add some UI nodes to your flow and redeploy.

    |

Same log

pi@marquise:~ $ node-red-start

Start Node-RED

Once Node-RED has started, point a browser at http://10.0.0.42:1880

On Pi Node-RED works better with the Firefox or Chrome browser

Use node-red-stop to stop Node-RED

Use node-red-start to start Node-RED again

Use node-red-log to view the recent log output

Use sudo systemctl enable nodered.service to autostart Node-RED at every boot

Use sudo systemctl disable nodered.service to disable autostart on boot

To find more nodes and example flows - go to http://flows.nodered.org

Starting as a systemd service.

22 Sep 16:54:53 - [info]

Welcome to Node-RED

That isn't what @zenofmud asked you to do.

Sorry I am confused.

I did NODE-RED-STOP then NODE-RED-Start. Isn’t it what he asked?

No.

Also include the stop command output in your post please, and check that after the stop then refreshing the browser showing the editor (not the dashboard) gives a timeout.

Sorry, also after the stop, run
node-red-log
And post the last 20 or so lines. Then break out of that and run node-red.

Dear Paul and Colin,

If you wish, you normally should have access to the Pi in SSH via either [edited out by moderator]

Please feel free to have a look.

I need to go but the machine stays alive.

I’ll be there also tomorrow afternoon (Brussels time).
