Has there been any changes in how formatting is displayed recently?

Sorry, but I'm asking as I noticed changes when I am posting and formatting text.

The text still shows me italics.

This

Still shows me quoted text.

But when I do this the display isn't as is was.
Though I can't say what it used to be my eyes tell me that what I used to see is not what I am seeing now.

Ok, it could be this end as Firefox has updated itself recently.
But if I don't ask, I'll never know or learn.

This is the other thing.

I can see a font change, but there is still something wrong now compared to what used to happen.
Thanks in advance.

I'm not aware of us making any changes ourselves.

Looking at your post, everything looks 'normal' to me. Without a better idea of what you think is wrong, there's not much else I can say.

It is clear that the code formatting has changed. Code blocks now look significantly different - better and closer to other tools.

As the change HAS happened, I can't really go back and show you how it was...

But if I remember correctly code BLOCK were shown with a grey background - if I remember correctly.
Similar to the quote blocks.

But ok, something has changed. I'm not that crazy - yet.

you just used the code block where you say "quote" block.

code block can be inline with other text.

quote block, which cannot be in the middle of other text.

Both have grey backgrounds for me. Code is slightly darker background. (#f0f0f0 vs #f9f9f9)

This is what a code block looks like now when viewing the forum in dark mode:

I believe that Discourse is now using one of the more common code displays like Prism which I don't believe it was before. I think that because the coloured code is now far more in keeping with other Markdown tools that use code blocks. Previously, colouration of code was minimal.

ah, I see. I just switched to dark mode and there is no grey background on code blocks anymore. I have everything else in my setup turned to dark mode, not sure why I hadn't set it on discord, I guess I didn't even know it had one. I only use it for this forum.
