This should work fine, and is the way we have worked around weird flows on AC charges - the challenge that you have is to know when the vehicle is ready to charge - again our experience with AC charges it can be tricky - I would expect that when the connector is connected to the vehicle that you should receive a connectorStatus event of “preparing” I would normally wait 30 secs and then do a RemoteStartTransaction ( you should not need to send a auth token

These are absolutely key to our energy management algorithms, and would be very useful if you want to match a load profile or generation profile (like solar ) - again the challenge you have is that the charger may not respond to these messages (depending on what power/energy mgt capacities .
