Most of my other machines when updating look nice.
When updating one the screen doesn't have "tick" as it is going through the stages, but this:
It is headless machine, but I am sure I set up the config stuff correctly.

This depends on the terminal emulation used and the installed fonts.
Does locale charmap return UTF-8 ?
Purely a cosmetic thing about how that terminal displays certain characters. The \u2714 is the unicode for the tick character it uses.
If you are able to ignore it, then no harm will come from doing so.
