What "addon" is it so you can put notes on nodes/groups/etc?

Sorry folks, just been through the ringer and come out somewhat worse for wear.

I remember recently an addon mentioned which allows you to add notes to parts of the flow.

A bit like the comments section of an open node.

But the search didn't yield much exciting - for me.

I'm sure SOD's LAW will step in and someone is able to find it easily.

I'm sure I installed it on one of my machines.

Where would it show if I had it installed?

No, that is out of the box.

Somewhere we (other people and I) were discussing things and I mentioned how I use a * to indicate I have added extra comments.

It was mentioned an add-on to allow extra comments to nodes/groups and other stuff.

I am not (yet) that confident (no offence to Nic) to do all that complicated stuff I see.
The one doc-red seems familiar and is easily installed.
